The SmartPoints Plan Basics

Every food has a SmartPoints value, based on its nutrition. You get a personalized SmartPoints Budget to spend on anything you like. It works just like a regular budget!

For example: Daily SmartPoints Target = 30


Things to remember: 
1.    Every food and drink is assigned a SmartPoints value, one easy-to-use number based on calories, saturated fat, sugar, and protein. Sugar and/or saturated fat raise SmartPoints values.  Protein lowers SmartPoints values.

2.    You have a daily SmartPoints Target and Weekly SmartPoints, both personalized to you. Use your Budget as you like, but to get the most bang for your buck, stick to foods that are higher in protein and lower in SmartPoints values.

3.    All fresh fruit and most veggies are 0 SmartPoints value (we want you to eat them!).

4.    Your daily SmartPoints Target doesn’t roll over; it resets each day. The same goes for Weekly SmartPoints; you start fresh each week.

5.     Your Target will change as you make progress.

6.     We recommend that you take a multivitamin-mineral supplement (one that delivers no more than 100% of the % Daily Value (DV).

7. Check with your doctor if you have specific dietary needs.

8. Follow your Budget, get in a little activity each day, make time for things you enjoy, and keep going. You’re going to rock this!
