Reflexology is an ancient art of pain relieving, which includes applying pressure on certain points throughout the body.
Reflexology can be of great help if you have little children, especially little babies, as they are still adjusting to being in their new world.
We reveal six ways you can use reflexology to soothe the pain of your child. Note that before you start the massage, you should relax the baby and boost blood flow with a foot rub or a warm bath.
1. Abdomen Pain (Upper and Lower)
If your baby suffers from indigestion, constipation, or heartburn, massage the area between the middle of the foot and the pads of the feet.
In case it experiences pain due to gas and bloating in the lower intestine, you should massage the baby between the middle of the feet and the heel.
2. Stomach Pain (solar plexus)
To soothe stomach spasms, upset tummies, tightness and trouble breathing, massage the center of the foot, just below the pads of the feet, at the beginning of the arch, as this point is linked to the Solar Plexus, which is a collection of nerves between the stomach and lungs.
3. Head and Teeth Ache
When your baby suffers from teeth pain or a headache, you should massage the tips of the toes.
In the case of chest congestion and cough, you should gently press and massage the pads of the feet of your child, just below the toes and above the arch.
Hip pain is often a result of the sudden growth of certain body parts. To relieve this pain, rub the heels of your baby.
6. Sinus Pain
Sinus pain is extremely agonizing for babies, so in order to relieve it, massage the center underside of the toes.
Note that in the case of serious issues, you should always consult a medical doctor. Yet, these reflexology points can help you treat some minor, everyday issues, so make sure you try them out!
